Linlithgow Loch Catch Report – 24/03/2054 –30/03/2025

Over the week, 28 boats and 48 anglers were out; 33 fish weighing 87¼ lbs were kept, and 252 fish were returned. The successful set-ups used floating, Midge-tip, sink-tip, and intermediate lines with blobs, cormorants, black/green lures, Diawl Bachs, Humungus, and snakes (especially pink).


Best catches for the week using the right tactics were by;


Monday: Lenny Reid fishing solo, was pleased to keep 1 fish weighing 3 lbs 5 oz and returned 5.

Tuesday: Ali Fyvie with Gavin Dunn returned 16 Rainbow. David Mannion was out until lunchtime and kept 2 for 5¼ lbs. Brian Taylor, out on his own, returned 9 fish. John and Robin Lambert kept 3 Trout weighing 9½ lbs and released 10 back into the Loch.

Wednesday: Ken Wood and boat partner kept 2 fish for 4¾ lbs and returned 17, while Mr Mills and partner kept 4 Rainbows weighing 11 lbs. They also put back 14 fish.

No boats were out on Thursday or Friday due to the weather. Are anglers becoming fair-weather anglers?🌞🎣😄


Despite the rain and winds in the afternoon, Saturday was a great day for anglers: Falkirk Fly Dressers out with 3 boats kept 2 for 6 lbs and returned 53, Mr Small and a friend kept 6 Trout weighing 6 lbs 16 oz, they returned 4 fish. Mr Bamberry and son, fishing for the first time, managed to net 1 while his dad netted and returned 4 despite missing a few takes. Ian McNicol and his dad had a great day returning 27 fish using F/L, M/T with Cormorants and Diawl Bachs. Last Cast returned 31 Rainbows; Nigel Muckle contributed 12 to their total. Stuart Stachan with Paul McNair returned 32; Stuart netted 25 fish.


The best catches on Sunday were by Falkirk Municipal AC, who kept 13 fish for 38½ lbs, returning 14 back; Gavin Dunn and Jimmy Russell returned 18 fish. Alan McGregor, fishing solo, returned 17 Trout to the Loch. Other anglers who were out didn’t catch as many.
